Dr. Freeze

Dr. Nora Fries to be exact. As I was thinking through how I'd like to do this redesign, it hit me that Freeze could be either one of the couple. 

Nora Fries was a leading cryogenic scientist, working on cryostasis for advanced-stage diseases (like MacGregor's Syndrome) and cyrosurgery for cancer patients. After putting her husband, Victor, in stasis, she suffered a terrible accident forcing her to wear a thermo-regulating suit as she continued her work.

Shortly after the accident, all of her funding was stripped and Victor was moved to a secure facility by a shadowy government agency. They forced Nora to rework her cryostasis technology into a portable device for them to capture enemy intelligence, so they could bring them back alive but unable to resist for questioning. Nora finished her a workable prototype, but the agency never allowed her or her husband to go free. She decided then that she would no longer be a monkey dancing to the organ grinder's tune, she was going to collect her husband and make a break for it.

Nora adapted her portable cryostasis weapon and power supply into her thermo regulation suit, adding an exoskeleton to handle the extra weight. Then, she proceeded to dismantle the facility that she was in, piece by piece until she could escape and take Victor to safety.

Once she had properly secured him, she realized that she no longer had the funding that she needed to cure Victor and turned to a life of crime to support her medical and scientific needs.
